City Trail Racing!

I’ve mentioned it before, but Salomon has a feature on its site where you can find the best “city trails” in your city. Unfortunately, it’s limited to larger cities, and it does not include my lovely hometown.

Well, it turns out that I’ve had an awesome city trail right under my nose! There is a race this Saturday called the Valley Nature Run – it’s a four-mile run that includes road and trail. Last week, I went to check out the course, and sure enough, it has trail. Going into it, I thought it was going to be some cheesy bike path. Nope. Turns out it is the real deal (the picture above is from the trail). Apparently, there’s a piece of land in the city called the Rand Tract. It’s not a big park, but it includes about a mile of singletrack.

This will be my first road race in several months. I’m using it to get a little speed before my late summer/fall ultra season kicks off. It should be a fun race, and I’ll be sure to post my results and a quick review of the race.

Do you have trails in the middle of your town/city?

  3. I live in a more suburban area and we do have a lot of trails, but I recently discovered s new one back in the spring. I love finding new places to go!! So cool about that site though my hometown isn’t there yet – maybe they will expand it! So useful!! Thanks for sharing.
