It’s race week again! The Vegan Power 50k is on Saturday (if you’re interested in running, you have until midnight today to sign up).
I want to run well, but I’m also being cautious. Finger Lakes 50-Miler is on 4th of July and that is one of my “A” races this year.
At this point, the weather looks pretty perfect:
With that being said, the course is going to be a mudfest. There was a dry Spring around here – parts of New York were even in a drought (briefly). However, it has rained a lot lately! Then again, what’s an ultra without a little mud?!
The favorites are Joel Frost-Tift and Laura Kline. With that being said, you never know in an ultra!
I’ll be running in the Inov-8 Roclite 282 GTX:
I plan on taking about 1200 calories for the race (roughly 300 calories/hour). I’ll be using Hüma gels, which are delish (as far as gels go):
I’m really excited for this race. There is a great running community in western Massachusetts and I’ll get to check out some new trails! I probably won’t post again until after the race, but I’ll try and get some results up on Instagram.
Yesterday, I hit 1400 miles for the year so far. Woo hoo.
