The London Marathon (featuring Paula Radcliffe, Prince Harry and Jesus)

The London Marathon was yesterday. This is one of the fastest races in the world, but it also looks like a lot of fun!

In the women’s race, Tigist Tufa claimed victory in 2:23:22. She was followed by Mary Keitany (2:23:40) and Tirfi Tsegaye (2:23:41).

In the men’s race, Eliud Kipchoge took the win in 2:04:42. He was followed by Wilson Kipsang (2:04:47) and Dennis Kimetto (2:05:50). This was probably the fastest group of men ever assembled for a marathon, but the weather did not cooperate, and a world record was out of the question.

Full results of the London Marathon are available here.

There were some amazing costumes at The London Marathon. As you can see above, an ostrich, a dinosaur, Jesus and a testicle all made pounded the pavement. For more great costumes, click here.

For Paula Radcliffe, this was her last hurrah. The 41-year-old world record holder has been battling through injuries and elected to start with the main field, as opposed to the elite women. Still, she did not disappoint. The three-time London champion finished in 2:36:55 (5:59/mile).

In other news, George Clooney will be running next year’s race. He told Christy Turlington he would race in 2016 if she broke four hours in this year’s race.

Christy reportedly said before the race:

“Thinking about George running a marathon and having a good night’s sleep before the race will help my time… The moment I cross the line, I want to go for a pint.”

I like her style. She finished in 3:46:45. For other celebrity times, click here.

Last but not least, Prince Harry. If anyone was going to photobomb the podium, it was going to be Prince Harry. Well, at least he’s wearing pants…

  1. It was a fantastic event to watch with the pre-race favourites all losing. It was also amazing to see Paula Radcliffe run her last marathon and what a reception she got! What makes her career even more special is she has recorded the top two fastest times ever in the marathon and that no-one has got within 3 minutes of the record she set 12 years ago

  2. Those costumes…. I don’t know what is more impressive: the dinosaur costume itself or the fact that he/she ran 26.2 miles in it

  3. The London Marathon is such an amazing race. I would love to be a part of it one day!
