Meb Keflezighi

Meb Wins NYC in 2009

Once again, Meb will be running the NYC Marathon! 2014 will be his 9th NYC Marathon – he won in 2009, was second in 2004 and finished 3rd in 2005.

Caroline Wozniacki

In 2010, Caroline was the top-ranked female tennis player in the world. She is still ranked 13th in the world, and she will be participating in the U.S. Open later this month. After that, she better switch up her training, because she’ll be running in the NYC Marathon in November!

Caroline said the longest she has ever run is 10km, so she has some work to do. She added that she normally runs 30 minutes at a time, but will be adding some hour long runs to get ready for the marathon. Hmm… I’d suggest she go a bit longer. I wonder what Sean Puff P Diddy Daddy Combs would recommend?

Start/Finish (2003)

Ronnie Goodman

Ronnie has been homeless for the last couple of years. He sleeps in a tent under Highway 101. He is an artist, and he donated a painting to be raffled off to benefit a local homeless resource center. The raffle raised about $10,000.

Ronnie is 54 years old and he ran 1:43:34 (15/223 in his age group).

“I’m just taking this attention like this: here today, might be gone tomorrow. I’m just me. I turned 54 on Friday, I have my health, I got to do this great run, and I have my art. It’s all good.”

The Liberia Marathon

The Liberia Marathon was scheduled for August 31st. It has been postponed until January 25, 2015, as a result of the Ebola outbreak.

Shalane Flanagan

Shalane will be running the Berlin Marathon on September 28th. Her goal is to break Deena Kastor’s American record of 2:19:36. Shalane’s current personal best is 2:22:02. There is no doubt that it will be a fast race. With that being said, I’m skeptical – but I certainly wish her the best!

Blanca Ramirez

Blanca Ramirez

Blanca Ramirez is currently trying to become the youngest person to run a marathon on every continent. So far, the twelve-year-old has run marathons in North America, Africa and Asia. She will be running in South America on August 10th. Check out her website here.

The Tel Aviv Municipality was held liable this week for the death of a runner in the 2011 half marathon. The Judge ruled that the city showed negligence by failing to demand that runners produce forms showing they are physically fit. The amount of the judgment is approximately $260,000.

The Havana Marathon

Finally, click here to enter to win a chance to run the Havana Marathon (November 16, 2014).

Imagine having to produce a form that shows you’re physically fit – what a crock – dumbest thing I’ve heard in a long while – and I’ve heard some dumb stuff.
