Inov-8 Roclite 282 GTX Review

This shoe is basically awesome. It is super comfortable and very stylish. It is also great quality, as I would expect from Inov-8.

It has a 25mm heel and a 16mm forefoot, a 9mm drop. The men’s size 10 weighed in at 9.8 ounces on my scale. I actually weighed it several times because this is slightly less than the shoe lists at (this is the first time I have ever had a shoe come up lighter than advertised).

The shoe has great laces and the upper is Gore-Tex, so your feet will stay dry. It is also very breathable. The toe box isn’t quite as wide as I would like, but it is certainly sufficient.

This shoe could be a trainer but I think it makes an excellent racer! It is less than 10 ounces, has a nice tread and a reasonable drop (9mm). I think you could race a 5k in it – I also think you could race 50 miles in it!

– everything!! I honestly love this shoe.
– comfortable and well-made
– nice tread
– Gore-Tex
– lightweight

– price – this shoe retails for $160 – ouch!!

  1. Sounds like a great shoe… I’ve just been tempted to get another pair of Talons, but perhaps I should consider these instead? How do they compare in terms of grip – do you know? 😉

    • Jason says:

I think the lugs on the talon are a bit bigger. I don’t need anything quite that rugged around here – what surface do you do most of your running on?

      • I mostly run trails, but like most runners, I have heaps of different shoes for different terrains. I use the Talons only for trail running, when I’m really out and about in the mountains…

      • Jason says:

Definitely give them a try – I think they’re great! If you do, you’ll have to let me know what you think!

      • I have good and bad news for you, I think. I tried the Roclites on today! As well as the newest Talons (which aren’t that new…). And you know what? I left the shop with a new pair of Salomon Fellraisers. They just felt the best… 😀
