NUMBER 4: Catherine Ndereba

CN

Catherine won gold medals in the marathon at the World Championships in 2003 and 2007. She won Olympic silver medals in 2004 and 2008.

Catherine has broken 2:30 twenty-two times and her marathon PR of 2:18:47 is the sixth fastest time ever run. In fact, she broke 2:20 on three separate occasions – only one other woman has ever done that.

“Catherine the Great” was an easy choice as one of the four greatest female distance runners of all-time.
